Nicki Thiim now has two wins from DTM. Both came to the legendary town of Norisring, where his father Kurt was able to win in the past.

One victory was won by Thiim and the Audi, now celebrating with Aston Martin.

"It's a dream come true. Two years ago, of course, it was something special, but this day will go down in history. The first time to win in DTM with this amazing brand Aston Martin is a special tribute. I always say, at the peak of the season, it's incredible that you can come here and still race. I'm still full of adrenaline and so on, but I have no words," says the pilot after the race.

The racer was close to winning last weekend, but the rain strategy prevented it.

"Lausitzring, of course, was painful because we thrived there. But, yeah, I was super motivated because we see that even guys are super motivated with the best pit stop of the day.

Unbelievable how far this little Belgian group has come. It really shows that we're taking it to a different level. But, yes, it's no secret that this is my absolute favorite track in the program.

It's really a racing circuit, so it's always a pleasure to come here. It's just so much fun to drive around urban circles, especially nowadays, when there are fewer and fewer and fewer opportunities. So, yes, it's a great honor and I appreciate you coming back. "

Although Norisring does not have one lap per minute, the track is physically extremely demanding.

,,, It's more of a collaboration not only the right legs, but also the left, because there are so many brakes. We're almost having a cramp in the car because of this little circuit, so often so much effort is being made. So, yes, it's just optimizing the little details because it's such a short circuit. Since it's a road track, there are a lot of little challenges here and there. "

The race was stopped because of Max Paul and Kelvin van der Linde's collision, which doesn't help the pilot's psyche.

,, Of course it was important that Max and Kelvin were okay. But I obviously don't like these moisturizing breaks or whatever it's called at the World Cup. Because you're obviously starting to feel nervous. So you'll go through the pressure again. So you just want to continue the race without stopping. Lausitzuring was a bit like déjà vu. But yeah, we did the job, and I was relieved when I ran over the target. "

Suddenly, the Aston Martin pilot gets into the title game.

"We must always realize that it is only the second season in the championship for us. Of course, I said that they have improved massively since last year. With some experience and knowledge of the tracks, it certainly helped.

It's not a secret, we all drive a lot of different series every weekend. So we don't lack knowledge of the car. Of course, German lines are so different from what we normally do. So all five weekend racing is a premiere for us. Because it's still the second season.

But we're going with our heads up and we're taking everything as a challenge. As a positive challenge and simply enjoying the present, "says Thiim.
