Italian wants to follow up on its successful start to the season "My desire to win is always great," says the 30-year-old rider. "I'm sure at Lausitzring we can compete again at the head of the field. We've had a lot of tests, so we feel good."

The first victory in Zandvoort was a milestone in Cairoli's career. "DTM was my long dream. In 2013, I first saw DTM live, and I thought," One day I want to ride in this race, "remembers the North Italian Como rider.

After performances on the international stage, including the FIA WEC endurance racing championship, this year it moved into the highest German racing series. "To me, DTM is one of the biggest race series. I particularly like this format because you don't have to share the car with a team member. That always attracted me," says Cairol, who drives Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo.

Motorsport is especially appreciated in Italy, and passion for fast cars has played a role in Cairoli's life since childhood. "Although Italy has a great culture of motoring sport, no one in my family comes from a racing environment. I'm the first," remembers Cairov getting into this sport.

"I got to motor sports relatively late when I was 16. My first experience was at PlayStation. There were no real racing simulators like we have today."

Today at DTM, he represents Ferrari, one of the most iconic brands in motorsport. "To a young Italian, driving a Ferrari is something very special. I'm very proud of that." He also likes the distinctive design in the colors of partner DTM, BWT. "The painting is really interesting and perfectly suited to the character of the car. The point is, of course, that it is fast."

The next challenge awaits Cairoli at Lausitzring, although the circuit in Brandenburg has nice memories: "For the first time in my career I got to the level of winners in the ATS Formula 3 Cup at Lausitzring in 2013. This was on the DTM platform, which I also experienced for the first time live." This weekend, Cairov returns to Lusatia, and the people of Monaco are eager for more top results.
