GT World Challenge is headed for the Nurburgring where 55 cars will be introduced
GT World Challenge returns to the event next weekend (28-30 August), when the three-hour Endurance Cup race at the Nürburgring begins the decisive phase of the 2026 season.
The racing track at the Eifel Mountains has been hosting the 15th annual GT World Challenge since its inclusion in the 2012 calendar, where 55 cars will seek victory. This starts the series of four racing weekends in eight weeks - two for the Sprint Cup and Endurance Cup, which culminates in the season finals in Portimão in the middle of October.
However, we may not have to wait that long to decide on this year's Endurance Cup champions, because at least one title is likely to take place in Germany.
Nürburgring is known terrain for GT World Challenge. With the exception of Spa-Francorchamps, there were no more races on any circuit than at 5,1 km long GP-Strecke. This year's starting grid with 55 cars includes 10 brands, which is the first Endurance Cup race since the end of June, when it took place 24 hours in Spa. The great winner of the Ardennes was the Porsche when Lionspeed GP performed a remarkable attack from the end of the field and secured a victory.
The second place was occupied by the Mercedes-AMG Team Mann- Filter, which is the third such result of the team in so many Endurance Cup races around Circuit Paul Ricard and Monza. Thanks to this result, the Maro Engel trio, Lucas Auer and Luca Stolz became the crowned champion of the Nürburgring, where the fourth and better place will secure a title no matter what their opponents achieve.
Among class battles, the Gold Cup is the closest battle to Germany, where the Garage 59 (McLaren) separates only eight points from ROWE Racing (BMW). The WRT (BMW) team has a silver advantage and is on its way to secure the title with one round before the end, while Kessel Racing (Ferrari) looks good to defend its bronze crown after gaining the maximum number of points in the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa.
As always this weekend at the Nurburgring you can look forward to many other activities on the track. The Lamborghini Super Trofeo returns from the summer break with just nine points that divide three crews on the forehead of the continuous order. Silas Lovén Rytter and Patrik Fraboni (Oregon Team) lead by seven points before Kevin Gilardoni and Simone Iaquintou (DL Racing), Nicholas Pujatti and Benedetto Strigano (Villorba Corse) are two points further. The line in Eiffel is already the 14th participation in the Super Trofeo calendar and will certainly offer two more fun races.
The GT3 Revival Series is preparing for its first participation in the Nürburgring. The new championship, which was launched this year as a home for early generations of GT3 machines, attracted large starting grids with some iconic cars. The Pro- Am title could take place in Germany, where Jean-Luc Beaubelique is approaching the conclusion of an agreement with his Ferrari 458 - which in the past won an award in his class at the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa.

Tickets start at €10. It costs €20 on Friday and €30 on Sunday. The best price-quality ratio offers a full weekend ticket that allows all three days to enter and costs €40. All tickets include access to the paddock and the bleachers, and there is also a range of VIP options.
Children under 11 may participate free of charge, accompanied by paying adults, while children aged 12 to 17 are entitled to a reduced price. Discounts are also available for viewers who meet a certain disability threshold.
